The Hercules Temple

On the top of the hill of Cori (very little town near Rome) the Romans built a Temple in honor of Hercules, which was later on included in a church (but after World War II only the bell tower survived). The Temple of Hercules was studied by many Renaissance artists, including Raphael, and it was the subject of a famous print by Piranesi. The reason for all this interest was in the use of Doric columns having the proportions (height versus diameter) of Ionian columns.

Few days ago I was with my friend in this temple during the night. We saw a very beautiful scenary from two columns from rear of the temple: there were a mount and the Pontina valley with many lights on, and there was silence. The night was very beautiful e very deep… Now I’m feeling the same emotions and the same sensations, and I’d want to be there again.
The night between the present and the future, like us were between the hill and the valley and the temple was the time-space door.
